Sunny
February 18, 2011
Sunny, the 3-year old ex-racing greyhound, has only recently been adopted from the SPCA (Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) re-homing centre by his person Chris.
Magnificent and loving, sweet and gentle, Sunny’s new likes include: lying on top of Chris, meeting other rescue greyhounds on leisurely walks, Beef Casserole for the Dog’s Soul and giving people sudden tongue-kisses.
Look into those eyes! Awwwww. For more information on greyhound adoption, check out this Nigel Buggers article.
Wanderings with wolves
January 12, 2011
(pretend wolves anyways…)
I thought you might like to know where Bubba and I have wandered off to recently, given the lack of recent posts. His naturally wolfish supermodel skills have been exercised in photographs for my new Inner Wild, wilderness wear for dearhearts shop.
Notice how interested he is in my Inner Wild Warmers. That’s because he connects me putting them on to us going for a walk. They are great for having your fingers free but hands warm while dog walking.
When we are wandering about, sniffing the breeze and peeing on trees, (him, not me) I am reminded of how wonderful it is to have a dog and therein a very good reason to be out in the howling wind, snow and sleet.
Amazingly, even while we have had many days of walks on slippery ice this winter, I have not yet become a human sled behind my snow dog!
Amber
October 2, 2009

Gorgeous Amber the Airedale Terrier and her person Robin read Beef Casserole for the Dog’s Soul before writing a review on their blog!
We took this review very seriously since Amber (who lives with another Airedale, Krissy) is a rather literary dog being the companion of writer, Robin Reynolds and her family.
Robin is the author of the beguilingly charming book, Life to the Max, Maxims for a great life by a dog named Max.
Life to the Max is a beautifully soulful book – joyful and light and yet also profoundly spiritual and funny. We love it. It’s a perfect gift book for people of all ages.
Harry

Harry – the completely adorable and gregarious 10-week old Miniature Pinscher – and David, Scotland. Did you know the Miniature Pinscher is known as “King of the Toy Dogs”? I think Harry knows. Harry lives with Molly who is a delightful and darling (and now very patient) Shitzu.
Weekend

Here’s an old dude reading to his dog in 1905. Oh, wait! It’s Theodore Roosevelt! Is the 26th President of the United States reading aloud to his sweet pup? A great man has to have some quality rest time while brokering peace between Russia and Japan in June 1905. Looks like he knew the benefits of a good book in one hand and a pup in the other. A year after this beautiful photo was taken he was awarded The Nobel Peace Prize. [Photographer, sadly, unknown.]

Alfie and Jean, Scotland. Alfie is a sweetheart who likes to keep an eye on what’s happening all around him. He’s especially on the look-out for any strange dogs suddenly appearing.

Arthur & Lance
August 7, 2009

Not one but TWO gorgeous Newfies! Arthur and Lance with their people Donna and Carl. (If you look real close you can see Carl is indeed holding a copy of Beef Casserole for the Dog’s Soul.) I think Arthur really likes the City Dog story since it’s about a handsome Newfoundland like him.

Feedback
July 24, 2009

We love getting your feedback! And we like to play and we’re real good at sharing too. So I’m proud to share some of the first feedback we’ve received about Beef Casserole for the Dog’s Soul:
“I bought your book for my friend who is mad about her dog. I am not a dog person and don’t really get it. But I know her dog is really important to her. When I saw Beef Casserole for the Dog’s Soul on Twitter I figured it would be a great gift for a dog owner like her.
“It was really cool when I gave the book to her because I was sort of saying that while I still don’t get her relationship with her dog, I wanted to acknowledge and honor it. I’ll get back to you when she fesses up about reading to her dog. She has a mutt called Bradley if that means anything. Thanks!” – Jacqueline, Scotland
